On the First Day of Christmas

With Brian sick and Cadence iffy, we planned a low-key first day: going to get frozen yogurt (a non-cooking fun thing to eat) and playing games at home. Most of the day was just chilling at home, hoping Brian would feel well enough to come with us this evening. And he did, which made it way more fun. It was super cold, so we really bundled up to eat something cold. I probably would've chosen a warmer treat if I hadn't run across coupons from the kids summer reading program that expired at the end of the month. We had to use them. This kept our whole day's expense to 5.66.

When we got back from yogurt, we taught the kids a simple card game, called Knock-knock. They loved it, and I marveled at how grown-up they seemed. Sometimes. I'm pleased to have some happy memories from a day that posed challenges.
